LOUISE WATSON
July 20, 1915 – January 3, 2016
With heavy hearts we announce that Louise Watson, of Avonlea, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2016 at 100 years of age. Born at Keeler, SK, Louise excelled in school, finishing grade 12 at 15 years. She attended teacher’s college and began teaching at rural schools two years later. While she was at a teaching position at Longview School, between Avonlea and Rouleau, she met Lawrence Watson. Lawrence and Louise married in 1941. They raised three children, Donna (1944), Ron (1947), and Glenys (1955). She and Lawrence had a special love for Texas, wintering there for 33 years. Louise always kept an active mind through reading, painting pictures, playing bridge, and doing a daily crossword puzzle and diary. She is survived by her family: Donna (Lou) Stang and Neil (Kim), Laurel (Chris), and Shauna (Wayne); Ron (Carol) Watson, and Rhonda and Darren (Alison); Glenys (Michael) Weisshaar and Jill (Marc), Andrea (Chad), Lee, and Curtis; fifteen great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Rhoades; sisters-in-law, Marion Daniel, Iris Watson, and Beth Akins; and many nephews and nieces. She is predeceased by husband Lawrence Watson, parents Ted and Elizabeth (McCoy) Gallagher; siblings: Thelma Muma, Robert Gallagher, Elsie Watson and Olive Staite; sister-in-law: Dorathy Watson; brothers-in-law: Harold, Gordon, Reg, and Harvey Watson, Jim Rhoades, and Art Muma. A Service to Celebrate Louise’s life will be held at the Avonlea United Church at a later date. Donations to the Avonlea United Church, or to Coteau Range Manor, Avonlea, would be appreciated. In living memory of Louise, a memorial planting will be made by W.J. Jones & Son Funeral Home.
