The death occurred peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Thursday, January 7, 2016, of Francis Gauthier, beloved husband of Margaret Joan Gauthier (nee Peters), formerly of North Rustico, aged 84. Francis was the loving father of Lorna Gallant (Bob), Colleen Devlin (Kevin), Marilyn Hughes (Jeff), Theresa Toombs (Merton) and Angela MacLeod (Darcy); and grandfather of Melissa, Henri, Kyle, Stacy, Chandler, Kara, Chloe, Jared, Alex and Jacob. He is also survived by his sisters, Edna Sampson, Theresa Krischuk (Pete), Virginia Flaherty and Patricia Larkin (Lloyd); brothers, Richard (Jean) and Clarence; sister-in-law, Jeanette Gauthier; and many nieces, nephews and friends. Francis was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Lynn, in infancy; parents, Peter Henry and Angelina (LeClair) Gauthier; sisters, Mary Callaghan (James), Margaret MacDonald (Michael), Marion Sampson (Clarence), Annie Kennedy (Frank), Lucy MacLeod (Earl), and Christie and Dorothy, in infancy; brothers, Joseph, George and Wilfred; sister-in-law, Dianne Gauthier; and brothers-in-law, Cornelius Sampson and Tom Flaherty. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Road, New Glasgow, for visitation on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 2 to 5 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Stella Maris Roman Catholic Church, North Rustico on Monday, January 11, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Stella Maris Cemetery.
