After a courageous battle with cancer, Bob passed away peacefully at Western Memorial Hospital in his 66th year on Thursday, January 7th, 2016. He will be sadly missed by his daughters Martina Hackett (Paul) and Kerri-Lee Silmarie (Alex); his grandchildren Garrett and Chelsea Hackett; his great-grandsons Caden and Kylan Hackett; sister Debbie Burton (Gerry); the mother of his children Leona Batstone; brothers-in-law Arch Mitchell, Brian (Leona) and Don Connolly; sisters-in-law Marie Reddy (Neil), Sandra Meaney, Mary Hackett (Dave), and Gertie Pederson (Paul); special friend Jack Duffney, and a large circle of nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Hayward and Marguerite Batstone; sister Kim Mitchell; father and mother-in-law Tony and Della Connolly, and his brother-in-law Bern Connolly. Thank-you to Dr. Tim Griffin, Dr. Tavenor, Dr. Dunn, Dr. Lafferty, and the staff of 3B and Palliative Care, and many special friends. In keeping with Robert's wishes cremation has taken place. Friends may visit Country Haven Funeral Home Chapel, 167 Country Road on Monday between the hours of 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., from where the funeral service will take place at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, January 11th, 2016 with Father Don Leonard officiating. Interment will follow at a later date. As expressions of sympathy flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
