It is with great sadness that the family of the late Wendell Herman "Skip" Sooley announce his passing on Saturday, January 9, 2016 at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital in Corner Brook at the age of 84 years. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 37 years Mary (nee Byrne); children: Brian (Cindy), Judy (Leonard), Debbie (Terry), Kathleen (Doug) and Harold (Donna); grandchildren: Nancy, Kimberley, Matthew, Wendy, Allan, Karen, Frank, Chantel, Cullan, Stephen, Katie, Kody and Michael; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Stella; brothers: Fred (Lola), Hector (Vera) and Boyd (Ethel); special long time friend Pat Byrne; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his parents Fred and Florence, sister-in-law Susie, brother-in-law Cyril and nephew Eric. Friends may visit Fillatre's Funeral Home, 218 Curling Street on Monday and Tuesday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 13 at 3:30 p.m. from St. Ambrose Anglican Church, John's Beach with Rev. Nelson Chatman officiating. Cremation to follow at Humber Valley Crematorium with interment at a later date.
