MASON, CONSTANCE SARA
1926-2016
The death of Connie (Archibald) Mason of Fredericton, NB, occurred on Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Thomas Hall- Shannex. Born on February 22, 1926, in Truro, NS, she was the daughter of the late Frank Christie and Marguerite Mary (Rosier) Archibald, and the wife of the late John Frederick Mason.
Connie graduated from Dalhousie University with a Bachelor of Science degree in 1946 and then proceeded to work as a lab technician in Halifax before teaching at a private school in Montreal. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church. Connie’s many hobbies included: being an avid golfer and longtime member of the Fredericton Golf Club, curler and duplicate bridge player. Connie also enjoyed painting, loved her books, while appreciating music and art. She was a member and supporter of the YMCA. She volunteered with the Red Cross and Canadian Cancer Society. Above all, Connie loved spending time with family and friends and always had a special place in her heart for dogs, which provided her with much joy.
Connie will be remembered for her natural kind demeanor, a quick and ready smile, a self-deprecating sense of humour, an easygoing personality and her humility.
She is survived by four sons, Andrew (Susan) of Haliburton, ON, David (Daisy) of Calgary, AB, Peter of Toronto, ON and Donald (Joan) of Fredericton, NB; eight grandchildren, Julie Gasko (Mike), Lori Powell (Gray), Kristen, Jessica, Patrick, Matthew (Devan), Daniel (Alexandra), Alexander and great granddaughter, Audrey Grace Powell.
Connie was predeceased by her husband, her parents and one brother, Eric Archibald.
A special “thank you” to the staff of Thomas Hall-Shannex, who continually provided excellent loving care to “Con-Con” during her three-year stay.
Services and interment will be held at a later date when family members from out of province are able to attend.
