It is with saddened hearts that we, the family, are announcing the passing of a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend, Gilmour (Campbell) Snook, age 89. Mom passed away peacefully at Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney on Jan. 9, 2016.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Ronald and Mabel (Chant) Campbell. Gil was a longtime resident of Glace Bay, residing for more than 20 years at the senior’s complex at 55 Minto St., and she was a member of Newsome United Church, Glace Bay.
She will be sadly missed by her loving daughter, Sharon (Brian) Driscoll; grandsons, Sean-Gregory and Latham; great -granddaughter, Sapphire, all living in Brantford, Ont. She is also survived by a sister-in-law, Myrtle Campbell, Glace Bay; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Besides her parents, Gil was predeceased by her loving husband of 68 years, Norman Snook, on Oct. 15, 2015.
Visitation will be held Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
A private family service will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home chapel. Interment will take place at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Mom’s memory may be made to Newsome United Church or the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
