Laura Cameron

CAMERON, Laura Evelyn – 95, of the Shiretown Nursing Home, Pictou passed away peacefully on January 14, 2016 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow, surrounded by her family.
Born in Elmfield, she was a daughter of the late James & Margaret (Munroe) Porter.
Laura worked at National Sea Products and retired from Michelin Canada and was the proud mother of 13 children.
Her passions were knitting, bingo, watching hockey, especially her team, The Toronto Maple Leafs, and music.
Laura will be sadly missed by sons, Don (Jean), B.C.; Angus (Annie), Amherst; George (Charlotte); Jim (Donna), both of Ontario; Charles (Darlene) Winnipeg; David (Jenny), Pictou; Clifford (Janet), New Glasgow; Everett (Dale), Brookland; daughters, Margie (Ed) Perry; Brenda (Leigh) Steele, both of B.C. ; and Shirley, West River. Laura is also survived by 27 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren; brothers, Martin (Lois) Porter, Ontario; Wilbert Porter, B.C.; sister, Margaret Franklin, B.C., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Laura was predeceased by her husband, James Andrew, daughter Lorena Mae (Murray) Smith, son, Alexander Bayne and siblings, Willa Coulter, Sadie Babcock, Milton Porter, Kenny Porter and Marion Langille.
Cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be from 7-9 PM Sunday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou.
Funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday from St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Pictou, with Jacquie Ross officiating.
Burial will be in Seaview Cemetery. A reception will follow in the church hall.
Family flowers only.
Donations in her memory may be made to Aberdeen Palliative Care.
