Majorie Daye

DAYE, MARJORIE FAYE
It is with great sadness that the family of Marjorie Faye (Kelley) Daye announces her passing on January 15, 2016 at the Church of St. John and St. Stephen Nursing Home. She was born in Rothwell, NB in 1937, to the late Alphonsus and Hattie Kelley, and was the loving wife for 61 years to her husband Roly Daye.
Marj was very devoted to her family and always enjoyed occasions when they were gathered around her. Her grandchildren were the apples of her eye and she always made them feel so incredibly special. Each one of them knew they were her favorite grandchild. She was a very social person and loved to host parties and gatherings of family and friends. She loved to cook and bake for those get-togethers and everyone will dearly miss her amazing homemade apple pies. She spent her early years raising her children before joining the family business, where she became a well-known and valued business partner with her husband, helping to run Roly's Used Cars for over 30 years. Marjorie was a member of the Riverside Golf and Country Club for over 40 years, and was an avid golfer. A highlight of her golfing career was when she won the Mabel Driscoll Memorial Tournament one year. Marj and Roly loved to travel together and for the past 30 years they enjoyed travelling south with their best friends David and Gloria. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving husband Roly of Saint John, their two sons; Dwight (Beth) of Saint John, and Jeff (Kathy) of Norton, her five precious grandchildren; Brandon, Morgan, Jessica, T.J, and Dylan, sisters; Joyce Perrin and June (Gorman) Jacklin, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Along with her parents, Marjorie was predeceased by her brother Gordon and two sisters Olive and Audrey.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). In keeping with Marjorie's wishes, there will be no service or mass and instead a celebration of her life will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Reception Hall on Thursday, January 21 from 7 to 9pm.
The Daye family would like to express their deepest gratitude to the staff of the Church of St. John, St. Stephen Nursing Home for the care and compassion they provided to our Marjorie during her stay there.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Marjorie’s memory made to the charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
