PLUMMER, JOHN RAYMOND
John Raymond Plummer, of Surrey, British Columbia, died Wednesday, January 6, 2016 at Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, BC. John was born in Hartland, New Brunswick, on June 6, 1935, the son of J. Raymond Plummer and Greta Burden Plummer.
John graduated from Mount Allison University and joined Imperial Oil (ESSO) in Toronto in 1960. In 1961, John married Zora Oldham of Fredericton, New Brunswick. As an executive with ESSO, John’s career took he and his family to Sault Ste. Marie, Hamilton, Toronto, Vancouver, Edmonton and Halifax. After retiring in 1991, John and Zora moved to Ocean Park, Surrey, BC where a view of the ocean, warm breeze and minimal snow shoveling were perfect compliments to a home they designed and built together. They loved spending each summer at their cottage at Robertson Point in Jemseg, NB. John enjoyed playing tennis and jogging and traveling the world with the love of his life and wife of 54 years. He also enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren for whom he was a constant source of sound advice and encouragement.
John is survived by his wife Zora Oldham Plummer, children Athalinda (Lindy) Louise of Charlotte, North Carolina, and John Raymond Plummer, his wife Helen of Oldwick, New Jersey and their three children, John Raymond IV, Robert and Grace. His brother Harold Plummer, brothers-in-law Gilbert Oldham (Ann), Harold Oldham (Patricia) and many loving nieces and nephews also survive him.
West coast family and friends attended a gathering on January 13 at the Morgan Creek Golf Club. East coast family and friends will gather this summer at a date to be determined to remember John.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Mount Allison University Football Team, University Advancement, 65 Work Street, Sackville, NB E4L 1E4.
