It is with sadness, that we, the family, announce the passing of, Noreen Marguerite Morrison. Noreen passed away peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at the Glace Bay Hospital with her family by her side.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Whalen) MacIntosh.
Noreen loved to dance and skate a lot in her younger years. She enjoyed playing darts at Glace Bay Legion and going to the country. She was a former member of St. Leo’s Church, Glace Bay. She will be remembered as a pleasant person who was a joy to be around.
Noreen survived by her daughter, ‘Billie’ (Blair) MacPhee, Glace Bay; very special daughter-in-law and pal, Viola Morrison; grandchildren, Glen (Darla) MacPhee, Montreal, Brent (Donna) MacPhee, Calgary, Lorelle (Chris) O’Keefe, Glace Bay, Bill (Jen) Morrison, Glace Bay, Shelene (Gary) Gilmour, Dartmouth, Jillian (Darryl) Kasun, Kamloops; also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, who held a special place in her heart.
Noreen was predeceased by her husband, George; son, Sheldon; brothers, Jack, Elmer; sisters, Bertie Currie, Millie Jackson, Iris Ferguson; grandson, Bradley MacPhee.
In honouring her wishes, cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
Visitation for Noreen will be held Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, from 12 noon until the time service. A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21st in the funeral home chapel, with Fr. Norman MacPhee officiating. A luncheon will follow the service in the funeral home. Interment will take place in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.
Family flowers only. As an expression of sympathy for Noreen, memorial donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Cape Breton Palliative Care Society.
Family would like to thank to staff of Glace Bay Hospital, palliative care and girls at the radiation center, who lovingly referred to her as ‘Nana’.
