Gail Kierstead

KIERSTEAD, GAIL (JOHNSON)
Gail left us on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 with great memories. Born on March 4, 1943 in Fredericton, NB, she was the daughter of the late Ken and Maimie (White) Johnson.
She grew up in Marysville and attended AGMS and FHS. Gail and Don were married on June 12, 1965 in Marysville. Gail’s first job was with NB Power and she followed with a bookkeeping career. She and Don lived a couple of years in Hamilton, ON and several years in St. John’s, NL. Gail and Don had in their care challenged adult males who became a part of their family. Gail also worked as a Bookkeeper and Office Manager for Dr. Delores Doherty, a close friend. Delores visited frequently after they returned to NB. Gail made many wonderful friends throughout her life, wherever she went and cherished each one of those friendships. She served as a member of “Right to Life” and “Women Aglow” in NL. Gail was a member of Nashwaak Valley Pentecostal Church in Taymouth, NB.
She will be greatly missed by Don, her husband of 50 years; their son, Paul; daughter in law, Anda Vulpoiu; her granddaughter, Sabrina of Kanata, ON; sisters, Sandra and Barbara both of Fredericton, NB, Evelyn of Prince George, BC, Eleanor Knowles (Dennis) of Cambridge, ON and Kathy Shanks (Randy) of Fredericton, NB.
The family would like to thank Dr. Abslom and staff of the ICU at the DECRH and workers of Bayshore for their fantastic care and kindness to Gail and her family.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 23, 2016 from 1 to 2 pm followed by the Funeral Service at 2 pm with Rev. Michael Trail and Kathy Shanks LIC officiating. Reception will follow at Brookside Court. Interment will take place in Nashwaak Valley Pentecostal Cemetery at a later date.
