It is with great sadness that the family of the late Duncan Nichols announces his passing on Wednesday, January 20th, 2016 at the Long Term Care Home in Corner Brook in his 92nd year. He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his Wife, Mabel Nichols, his children: Bev (Gary) Pritchett, Doug (Ina) Nichols, John Duncan (Joy) Nichols, Barbara (Terry) Young, Shelley (Steve) Nichols, his grandchildren: Bob & Mark Pritchett, Adam Nichols, Ryan Duncan (Kim) Nichols, Meghan (Cole) Joudrey, Greg (Asia) Young, Beverley Young, Daniel (Cassie) Young, Jessica (Kenny) Bell, Tiffany, Whitney & Tristan Manstan and great grandchildren: Naya & Tayla Nichols, Devyn & Jacob Pritchett, Ryan, Hayden, Emma-Grace & Luke Pritchett, Nolan & Max Joudrey, Boden Griswold, Evan, Daniel & Ryan Duncan Bell and Kate Young Also a large number of nieces & nephews. Predeceased by his Father & Mother: Warren & Phoebe Nichols and Siblings: Joyce Pollis, Gladys Melvin, Kitty Lidstone, Bert Nichols and "Brother" Eric Hammond. Duncan was a World War ll Veteran. He graduated from UNB in 1947 with a Forestry Degree and he worked with Bowaters his entire career in the Woodlands Division. He served as Church Treasurer for 23 years for St. Paul's United Church in Deer Lake and served for many years on the Executive of the Royal Canadian Legion Deer Lake Branch #3. Special Thanks to the Staff of the Dialysis Unit at Western Memorial Hospital and the Staff of the Veteran Affairs Unit at the Long Term Care Home in Corner Brook. Visitation is taking place on Friday, January 22nd, 2016 from 2-4 pm & 7-9 pm at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive in Deer Lake. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 23rd, 2016 at 2 pm at Fillatre's Funeral Home, 10 Clinic Drive in Deer Lake with Rev. Myles Vardy officiating.
