Bruce Wilcox

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many, Bruce Wilcox on Jan. 20, 2016.
Born on Feb. 5, 1955, he was the son of the late Fred and Edna (MacLeod) Wilcox.
Bruce received his early education at Reserve District High School. He was a proud member of the Boilermakers Union Local 73 having worked there for 38 years, retiring in 2011. He was a sports enthusiast having played many sports including softball, hockey, pool, darts as well as hunting, fishing and enjoyed cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens, loved a game of poker with great strategy in thought and was a music enthusiast who was self-taught in guitar in which he spent many hours entertaining the family. Bruce was our “go to” man. There was no job too big or too small for him to tackle and he possessed every tool for the task. His main focus was always that of his family, always making sure they had food in their bellies and money in their pockets. His wish was always for his children and grandchildren to be happy and remain close.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 37 years, Marie (Lalo); their two sons, Gary and Jonathan (Jessica), New Waterford; siblings, Tanya, Halifax, Freddy (Rena), Ontario, Troy (Sheilagh), B.C; his “special” granddaughter, Brooklyn, who was more like a daughter to him; his “little man” grandson, Justis Wilcox, Glace Bay; his jewels, Ava Marie and Sophia Grace, Glace Bay, Ava and Kait, New Waterford; nephews Greg, Johnny, Danny, Leonard, Greg, Freddy; niece, Jennifer; aunt, Elma; as well as many cousins.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Greg.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 25, 2016 from 12-3 p.m. followed directly by a chapel service in the funeral home at 3 p.m. with Rev. Vernon Reid officiating. A luncheon will follow at the K.O.C Hall, Plummer Avenue, all are welcome.
