LIKOURGIOTIS, THEODORE
Theodore Likourgiotis, devoted husband of Voula Flogeras – Likourgiotis of 55 years passed away in his 83rd year on Saturday, January 23rd 2016, surrounded by his family. He was the son of the late Eugenia “Samouris” and John Likourgiotis.
He was born in the mountainous Kalavrita region in Southern Greece in 1932, and lived his childhood through the hardships of World War Two. Following his service in the Air Force, he emigrated to Canada in 1956, arriving at Halifax’s Pier 21 on the SS Saturnia. After a short period in Montreal he arrived in Saint John and began his career as a restaurateur. His first business was the Granada Restaurant on Waterloo Street, followed by the Diana Restaurant at King Square. In 1971, he opened the Mediterranean Restaurant on Rothesay Avenue with partners Mike Feggos and George Flogeras
He was a man of faith and a pillar of the Greek Community. He will be remembered by his family and the hundreds of people who worked for him through the years for his integrity, sincerity and his compassion to help others in need.
Theodore is survived by his cherished wife Voula, three loving sons; John (Stella), Chris (Susan) both of Saint John, N.B and Yorgo (Wenke) of London, England. He is also survived by two sisters; Mary Jacob and Constandina Likourgiotis – Katsaroupas. He will be missed by grandchildren; Alexander and Theodore Likourgiotis; Theodore and Spiro Likourgiotis both of Saint John N.B, Eva, Zena and Athena Likourgiotis of London, England and Andre Enchanique of North Carolina.
Along with his parents, Theodore is predeceased by sister, Vasiliki Likourgiotis.
On behalf of our family, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Palliative Care team at the Saint John Regional Hospital for the love and care they had shown towards Theodore.
Theodore will be resting at the Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation hours being held on Wednesday, January 27th 2016 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, January 28th at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 91 Waterloo Street at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Father Andrew Allain officiating. Interment will follow at Fernhill Cemetery after the service.
Remembrances in memory of Theodore Likourgiotis can be placed towards to the Boys and Girls Club of Saint John, the Joshua Group or a charity of the donor’s choice.
