It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of a wonderful mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Eileen Hardy (1930-2016) on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, surrounded by her loving family and extended family at the Northside Guest Home.
Born in North Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Christene (MacNeil) Gillis.
Eileen worked for Canada Post in North Sydney until her retirement. She was a quiet and loveable person who enjoyed gardening, cooking, knitting and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her son Paul (Gloria), a grandson, granddaughter, great-granddaughter and a stepson.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Stan Hardy, a brother and a stepson.
We would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Bill MacDonald and his staff and the staff of the Northside Community Guest Home for their love and support during this difficult time.
There will be no visitation per mom’s request. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in North Sydney with Rev. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Northside Community Guest Home, North Sydney.
