Millicent Sarah  Coleman

Millicent Sarah (King) Coleman, RN.
Millicent passed away peacefully on January 9, 2016, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center with her loving husband of 63 years, David, and her large, cherished family at her side. Millicent was born October 14, 1926, in Fortune, a small Newfoundland outport, to Sarah (Lake) and Captain John William King. As a young child, Millicent loved the outdoors, especially time spent with family and friends in Kings. In 1950 she graduated from St. Joseph’s Nursing School in Toronto. After graduation, she returned to Newfoundland where she fell in love with her future husband, RCMP officer, David. The next few years were busy, having 5 children in five different communities. Millicent enjoyed golf, curling, fishing, playing bridge and summers spent at Two Islands. She was a lifetime member of the UCW. Over the years she was an active community volunteer, and sponsored a number of underprivileged children in other countries. However her main focus was always her family. She will be lovingly remembered by husband David, children Dale (Brian) Jones, David (Ann), Dawn (Al MacIssac), John (Janice), Scott (Nancy), 15 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, siblings Daisy Seymour, Clyde King and Kaye Lord and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and siblings Dove, Geo, Grace, Beth, Jack and Charlie.
Visitation was at Campbell’s Funeral Home on Monday, January 11 from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. with funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 12, at 4:00 p.m. at Trinity St. Stephen’s United Church, Amherst. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
