We, the family of Howard Everett Anthony, 68, of Sydney, originally Kytes Hill, Grand Lake Road, regret to announce his passing on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Harris and Cora (Tutty) Anthony.
Skilled as an electronic technician, Howard was the owner of Merritt Business Machines. He was also an avid short wave radio operator and a member of the Sydney Amateur Radio Club.
He is survived by his wife, Maureen (Medhurst), Miners Memorial Manor; daughter, Karen (Corey) Anthony-Badcock, Seattle, Wash.; sons, Mark (Sharon), Tampa, Florida, and Robert (John Farrauto), Toronto, Ont.; niece, Carrol Long (fianceé, Darrell Comeau); grandchildren, Martin, Emily, James, Dane and Reid. Howard is also survived by his sisters, Sherry Paris, Toronto, Ont. and Jeanette (Lawrence) MacIntosh, Blacketts Lake; brothers, Vincent (Eunice), Marion Bridge, and Jackie (Florence), Hamilton, Ont.
He was predeceased by his sisters, Betty MacGillivray, May MacIntosh and Carrol Harrietha, and brothers, Freddie and Ronnie.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Thursday 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held in the chapel on Friday 11 a.m., with Mr. Gary Grant officiating.
Memorials may be made to the An Cala palliative-care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
