Michael David Colson

Born: November 2nd, 1953

Passed on: January 27th, 2016

It is with profound, heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of Michael David Colson, age 62 of Glace Bay, on Jan. 27, 2016.
A loving husband, father, brother and friend, surrounded by his family lost his brief, yet courageous battle with cancer.
David was a man of many talents - a well-known bass player who performed with several bands who inspired and influenced many young musicians to play bass. He, like his father Mickie was a member of the Men of the Deeps Choir. Along with his late brother, Brian, he successfully operated the Miners' Village Restaurant in Glace Bay for nine years. He was a proud member of IBEW Local 1852, as a Red Seal Electrician.
David was one of a kind in many ways - he was loving, caring, and had a wonderful sense of humour. A simple dance with him around the kitchen made you forget your worries for a little while. He loved his family fiercly, and would do anything for anyone who needed help. He had a God-given gift of hospitality, compassion, friendship and music. Most importantly, David had a great faith in God, which carried him through his battles until the end.
David was predeceased by his father, Michael 'Mickie'; mother, Bridget 'Bridie'; brother, Brian and his special nieces, Debra and Lisa. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Lisa; his cherished daughters, Sarah (Justin) MacDonald, Charlottetown, P.E.I. and Helen Runighan, Halifax, N.S.; sisters, Frances (Francis) Morgan, Glace Bay, and Jean Marie (Ron) Williams, Halifax, N.S. and his brother, Barry Colson, Halifax, N.S. He was also a cherished brother-in-law to Brian (Doreen), Morell, P.E.I., Herb (Donna), Toronto, Ont., Glen (Penny), Bangor, P.E.I., Kent (Isobel), Crapaud, P.E.I. & Scott, Charlottetown, P.E.I., numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In following David’s wishes cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place on Saturday, Jan. 30, 2016 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will take place on Sunday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. in Bethel Family Church.
