Albert Roy MacLean, 88 of Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, formerly of Cabot House, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at the residence.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late John W. and Violet (Richards) MacLean.
A graduate of Acadia University, he was inducted into the Acadia Hockey Hall of Fame, was co-founder of the ‘Men of the Deeps’ and past commodore of the RCYC (Royal Canadian Yacht Club). Roy began his career as a mining engineer at Dosco and was employed for over 40 years with Devco, retiring in 1992 and over the years, mentored a number of young engineers during his tenure there.
He is survived by his son, Roy Jr., Toronto; sisters, Eleanor, Glace Bay and Eileen, Sydney and by numerous nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his loving wife, Dolores in 2015 and his brothers, Arthur, Leonard and Robert.
Visitation for Mr. MacLean will take place on Monday, Feb. 1, 2016 from 5-8 p.m., the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with Rev. Bill Burke officiating, both taking place at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
