Died peacefully at the Miller Centre Palliative Care Unit after a long struggle with kidney disease, John Robert (Johnny) Porter, age 57, of St. John's. Predeceased by his father, John Knight Porter; grandparents Susanna (Cole) and Heber Porter, and Evelyn (Horwood) and Robert Fogwill; special friend, Ken Fox; and unique friend, Kieran Earles. Leaving to mourn his mother, Helen Fogwill Porter; sister Kathy Porter and her family: Julia Smith Porter and Gary Smith; sister Anne Porter and her family: Shaina Goudie, Noah, Evangeline and Atticus Hansen; Dylan Goudie and Michelle Ryan; Karla Buchanan Goudie, Matthew and Arthur Ball; and Stephen Goudie; brother Stephen Porter and his family: Bonnetta Toms, Nikki and Laura Richards, Tammi, Richard, Zachary and Spencer Hewlett; steadfast friend, Erick Olafsson; faithful friend, Elizabeth (Boo) Noseworthy; perennial friend, Tracy (Tilley) Norman; excellent mentor, Dr. Sandra Clarke; aunts and uncles: Brenda Power, Bill Fogwill, Lou and Rose Porter, and Violet Simpson; and a wide circle of family and friends. Special thanks are extended to the home care workers of Compassion Home Care, the Palliative Care team, the Health Sciences Dialysis team and Community Health nurse Shannon Follett. Remains resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm on Sunday, January 31st, 2016. Funeral service will be held at Caul's Chapel on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 4 p.m.. Interment will be held at the Salvation Army Cemetery on Blackmarsh Road.
