BRIGGS, GLADYS
The death of Gladys Gene Briggs occurred on February 1st, 2016 at Pine Grove Nursing Home. Born April 4th, 1932 in Lincoln, NB, she was the daughter of the late Tyler and Isla (Filmore) Hodgson and wife to the late Emerald E. Briggs.
Gladys is survived by her children, Elizabeth Johnson (Sterling) of Riverview, Katherine Kerton of Beaverdam, Carol Hayward (Michael) of Nasonworth, Sharon Carr (Michael) of Rusagonis and Susan Marks (Kevin) of Lincoln; daughter-in-law, Barbara Briggs of Lincoln; grandchildren, Cindy Reid and Billy Briggs, Angie Kerton and Crystal Branston, David, Wesley, Bliss and Michael James Hayward, Stephanie, Corey and William Carr, Daniel and Leah Wilbur; great-grandchildren, Victoria, Riley, Derk, Myles, Cameron, Katelyn, Cole, Madison, Cameron, Virginia Rose, Wyatt, Sydney, Samuel, Abigail, Gracelyn, Kiah, Tye and Liam; great-great-granddaughter, Layla Briggs; special nieces and nephews, Kim Leduc, Terry Hodgson, Kevin Hodgson and David Hodgson as well as sister-in-law, Nancy Hodgson.
She was predeceased by her parents; her husband and father to her children, Emerald; her second husband, Reginald Calhoun; her children, Billy and infant son, David; her sons-in-law, John Kerton and Danny Wilbur and her siblings, Marie "Auntie" (the late George) Hodgson and Tyler "Jr" Hodgson.
Gladys worked for years as a clerk with Capital Answering Services. She was a loving woman who always put others first, even when she moved to Pine Grove Nursing Home. She was a wonderful baker and seamstress who made beautiful quilts, which now can be found throughout the homes of her family. She loved going for walks and adored animals. She will be missed by many family and friends for her compassion, generosity and support. The wisdom and life lessons she taught her children will be cherished and carried with them throughout their lives.
Thanks to the staff of Pine Grove Nursing Home for all their care and compassion, especially Juanita Jones and Jocelyn Weston.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 3rd, 2016 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church on Thursday, February 4th, 2016 at 11:00 am with The Rev. Canon Bruce McKenna officiating. Interment will be in Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
