John Joseph "Joe" Revell died peacefully at the Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Joe, age 80, was the son of the late James T. Revell and Mary (Peters) Revell.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years, Regina "Jeanie" (Gillis), and children, Jim (Margaret), Dan (Patricia) and Janice (Anthony). He will be lovingly remembered by his four grandchildren, Alexandra, Lauren, Joseph and LeAnne. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Bill Gillis, and sister-in-law, Leah Brown.
A graduate of the Prince of Wales College, St Dunstan's University and the University of Western Ontario, Joe was a retired professor and former dean of the School of Business at UPEI. He also served on the UPEI Board of Governors and was Chairman of the P.E.I. Labour Relations Board for 25 years.
Among his community activities, he was the last chairman of the Charlottetown Hospital Board and vice chair of the founding board of directors of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He also served on the Sherwood Village Commission and was a member of the Haviland Club and Probus Men's Club.
Resting at the Belvedere Funeral Home, with visitations on Thursday, February 4, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 5 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X in Charlottetown.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the JJ Revell Business Scholarship at UPEI.
