Murray Mann

SALEM - R. Murray Mann, age 90 of Salem, Pictou County passed away on Tuesday Feb. 2, 2016 in Northumberland Veterans Unit, Pictou.
Born in Ontario, he was a son of the late George and Reta (LeCroix) Mann.
He was an employee of Michelin until his retirement. Murray was a veteran of the WW II, and was a member of the Overseas War Veterans Association. An avid sportsman, he played and taught hockey in his younger years, was instrumental in the creation of the Salem ball field, was a softball umpire and enjoyed bowling. Murray was a scout leader for several years. As well, he had been a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He was a member of the Salem Presbyterian Church and was also involved in the construction of the Log Church in Loch Broom.
Murray will be sadly missed by sons, Robert (Wanda), Salem; George, Calgary; Darryl, Calgary; foster daughters Mary Pineau, Westville; Stacy Haines (Ron), New Glasgow. grandchildren: Kevin, Dennis, Samantha, and Jessica Mann. He is also survived by sisters Beatrice Hatch, Riverton; and Elizabeth "Betty" Laurilliard (Gordon), Port Williams and close friend Lorna Graham, Halifax.
Murray was predeceased by his wife Joyce (Salter), sister Muriel MacLennan, brother Clifford, and his foster son Adam Roddick.
Murray is resting at Eagles Funeral Home, Westville with visiting on Wednesday from 7-9 pm and Thursday from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 35 will conduct a service at 6:30 Thursday at the Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 2 o'clock Friday from Eagles Funeral Chapel, Westville with the Rev. Norman Marple officiating.
Spring burial will be in the Durham Cemetery.

Donations in his memory may be made to Salem Presbyterian Church or The Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
