Peggy Lynn (MacAskill) MacLeod

Peggy Lynn (MacAskill) MacLeod, 39, a resident of Fox Creek, Alta., died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 after a brief battle with cancer.
Peggy is the daughter of Malcolm Angus (Gussie) MacAskill and the late Shirley Lee (MacDonald) MacAskill of North River.
Peggy moved to Fox Creek in 2011 and made many life long friends although her heart always stayed in Cape Breton. Peggy showed passion in everything she did and always lent a helping hand to those in need. A lover of good times and a hearty laugh, music was in her soul and the love shown for family and friends always shone through.
Peggy is survived by her companion Corey Johnston. She is also survived by her former husband Mark (Digger) MacLeod and sidekicks Skipper and Roxxie. Her siblings, Barbara (Brad), Shirley, Mary (Gus), Gloria , Beverly (Darin), Stewart (Emma) and Jennifer (Bruce). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews along with many close extended family and friends. She will be missed dearly by close friend Crystal Ross and her devoted sidekick Mandy.
Peggy was predeceased by her late husband Bernard Shaun MacAskill in 2005, paternal grandparents DJ and Belle MacAskill and maternal grandparents Danny and Margaret MacDonald.
Cremation has taken place and a Celebration Of Life will be held Sunday, Feb. 7, 2016 at 4 p.m. at the MacKenzie Hall, Gaelic College in St. Ann's. A remembrance service will be held at a later date in Fox Creek, Alta.
Donations may be made to the music program at the Gaelic College in Peggy's memory.
