Brian Wilkins

WILKINS, BRIAN RONALD IRWIN
It is with great sadness the family of Brian Ronald Irwin Wilkins, partner of Debbie Smith, announce his passing, which occurred on February 1, 2016 at his residence. He was born on April 22, 1954 in Saint John, to Ronald and the late Hilda (Irwin) Wilkins.
Brian worked at the Irving Pulp and Paper Mill for over 30 years, before happily retiring in April of 2010. He was an avid member of the Westfield Golf and Country Club. When he wasn’t golfing, he could be found at the bowling alley, or at Costco, where he loved to shop. In his retirement he embraced charity, and was a proud member of Meals on Wheels. He volunteered for Gentle Path Counselling charity curling and auction events. He was looking forward to welcoming the Syrian families to Saint John and was a part of Welcome Team 11. He loved to travel and loved music. He was a Beatles fanatic and would travel anywhere to see a Leonard Cohen concert. He loved his private back yard and sharing the pool with friends and family.
Aside from Debbie and his father, Brian is survived by his two daughters, Carla Wilkins (Chris Draper) and Terra Wilkins; his sister Carol Wilkins (Colombus Jesso); his brother Rick Wilkins (Beth); grandchildren Nuna and Hassan; his furry retirement buddies Bailey and Bryce; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Hilda Wilkins.
Resting at Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424) with visitation on Friday, February 5, 2016 from 2 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be held from Brenan’s Chapel on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 2 PM. Interment will take place in Fernhill Cemetery at a later date.
For those who wish, remembrances in memory of Brian may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be placed at www.BrenansFH.com.
