He will be reunited with his dear wife Phyllis Battcock, who went before him. James was born in Brigus South, NL, one of 12 children, he lived a full and successful life, and he was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a non-judgmental, kind soul, with a great sense of humor. His wit and his infectious smirk always lightened even the most difficult situations. James was a story teller and historian. He shared many stories of his time spent working in Labrador, Greenland and for many years at Her Majesty's Penitentiary. Many of these stories have been meticulously recorded by news clippings and pictures that fill the many journals he so fondly kept. James was also an avid gardener. His training at the Government Agricultural College fostered his love of gardening, his specialty was growing many varieties of potatoes.
