Gallant, Catherine
1925-2016
Catherine Gallant, 91, of Moncton, passed away on Thursday February 4, 2016 at The Moncton Hospital. Born on January 8, 1925 in Barachois, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Dina (LeBlanc) Léger.
Catherine was the owner operator of Gallant’s Cash & Carry in Moncton (Parkton) for 50 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Linda Richard (Raymond) of Moncton; one son, Oscar (Freda) of Moncton; two sisters: Claudette Robichaud (Ronald) of Saint-Antoine and Rita Power (Joey) of Moncton; two sisters-in-law: Pauline and Doris; six granddaughters: Rachel, Suzanne, Julie-Lynne, Nadine, Catherine and Caroline; six great-grandchildren: Jeremy, Jenessa, Aiden, Alisson, Céline and Olivia; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Edouard Eddy “Minou” (1994); one sister, Norma; four brothers: Hector, Francis, Arcade and Raymond.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and Monday from 9:30 am until time of departure (10:15). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Notre-Dame-de-Grâce Roman Catholic church, 858 Mountain Road, Moncton on Monday February 8 at 10:30 am. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary cemetery, Dieppe. In memory of Catherine, a contribution to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Friends of the Moncton Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
