Sandra Cluney

CLUNEY, SANDRA ELIZABETH
It is with great sadness the family of Sandra Cluney announces her passing at the Moncton Hospital on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at the age of 79. Born in Moncton, Sandra was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth "Bess" (Biddiscombe) Lowry.
She is survived by her loving husband Gerald (Gerry), her children Patrick of Victoria, BC, Holly of Moncton, Kerry (Paul) Bosveld and dear “#1” grandson Declan Bosveld of Kingsville, ON and her brother Ron (Marie) Lowry of Moncton.
Sandra attended Moncton’s Mountain Road School, graduating from the Notre Dame d’Acadie College in 1953. She was employed at Central Mortgage and Housing and the CNR General Office where she met Gerry. They were married in 1962 at St Augustine’s Church in Moncton, and enjoyed 54 years together. Sandra was a gentle and loving mother to their three children and, as a homemaker, provided them with a comfortable home and many happy childhood memories. With Gerry, she enjoyed travelling throughout Europe, the US and across Canada, memorable highlights of their lives together. An avid quilter, Sandra crafted many beautiful pieces, cherished by family and friends.
Enduring friendships developed from Sandra’s earliest years, and were strongly maintained throughout her life, as were her close relationships with her many cousins. She was overjoyed to learn she and Gerry would become grandparents, and was the most loving Nana to her grandson Declan.
From her youth, Sandra was a dedicated Christian, having been a member of the Holy Family Church in Moncton since its earliest days. She was active in numerous church ministries as a reader, catechist, pastoral care volunteer and member/secretary of the Catholic Women’s League (CWL).
Sandra was highly respected for her caring and friendly personality in her many community support roles including Secretary of the Holy Family Seniors Club and as a long-time member of the nursing home visitation committee. For many years, Sandra had faithfully supported Christian organizations such as Covenant House, Chalice Canada and The Society of the Little Flower.
Visitation will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton on Monday 1:00 to 3:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Parish Prayers and Sharing of Memories for Sandra will be at the Funeral Home at 7:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 52 Falkland St., Moncton on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 at 11:00 am, Rev. Phil Mulligan and Rev. Charles Broderick presiding. A reception will be held in the Church Hall following Mass.
