Krista Porter

PORTER, KRISTA JOY
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Krista Joy Porter (VanBuskirk), 44, of Dartmouth, formerly of Moncton, surrounded by family at the Victoria General Hospital, Halifax, NS on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Born in Moncton, she was the daughter of Gary and Bernadette (Murphy) VanBuskirk of Moncton.
Krista was a pharmacist with Fords’ Jean Coutu Pharmacy Riverview and a Patient Access Coordinator for Janssen Pharmaceuticals. A graduate of Moncton High School and received her B.Sc. in Pharmacy from Dalhousie University 1995.
Having successfully survived cancer in her 30’s, Krista was determined to see the world, from Italy to California, Chile to France, New York and Las Vegas. Besides her love of travel, shopping and wine were of great interest. She will be remembered for helping others, including volunteering with Girl Guides, going above and beyond for her patients and always putting her family and friends first. She spoke with true confidence, strength and determination. Her spirit touched everyone.
In addition to her parents, Gary and Bernadette, Krista will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 19 years, Jeff Porter of Dartmouth; her dog Lola; brother Todd VanBuskirk (Joanne) of Woodstock, NB; father and mother-in-law, Richard and Catherine Porter of Moncton; brother-in-law, Jeremy Porter (Jennifer) of Saint John, NB; sister-in-law, Jennifer Keirstead (James) of Lower Coverdale; cherished nieces and nephew, Chelsea, Molly and Ben; and several other extended family members.
Visitation at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd, Moncton (858-1995) on Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Memorial service will be celebrated at the Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, February 11, 2016 at 11:00 am with Rev. Michael Steeves officiating. A reception will follow the service at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Fair Haven Cemetery.
In Krista’s memory, in lieu of flowers, a donation to Plan Canada (plancanada.ca, 1-800-387-1418), the local food bank or a memorial of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
