HAYDEN, Maizie Almeda, 88, of Jordan Falls, Shelburne County, passed away peacefully in Roseway Manor on Thursday, February 4, 2016. Born on October 1, 1927, Maizie was the eldest daughter of the late Kelly and Charlotte (Sholtz) Goulden of Churchover. Maizie will be remembered by many as a familiar and smiling face during her long years of employment at the Loyalist Inn hotel and restaurant in Shelburne. Maizie was a faithful member of the Jordan Falls United Baptist Church for more than 60 years, as a choir member, Sunday School Teacher, member of the Women’s Missionary Society and on numerous committees. Maizie and her husband Mitchell were blessed with a wonderful life together. They enjoyed travel, camping throughout Ontario, Eastern Canada and New England, tending to their much admired flower gardens and the quiet beauty of their cottage on Lake Deception. In addition to her parents, Maizie was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Mitchell Hayden; brothers, Vernard and Ainslie; sisters, Edna and Nora. She is survived by her youngest sister, Barbara (Harry) Goulden, sisters-in-law, Beulah Goulden, Nellie Goulden, Ruth Hayden and Margaret Smith; sister and brother-in-law, Jean (Jerry) Clancey. The family wishes to thank the dedicated and caring staff at Roseway Manor. A service to celebrate Maizie`s life was held at the Jordan Falls United Baptist Church on Sunday, February 7 with Pastor David Hopper officiating. Interment in Locust Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Stephen Hardy Hayden Cemetery Fund or the Alzheimer’s Society.
