David Dewar

David Alexander Dewar, 65, Wallace, passed away suddenly on Friday, January 29, 2016, at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre, Amherst. Born in New Glasgow he was a son of Norma (Cameron) Dewar, Pugwash, and the late Gordon Dewar.
David had worked at the Pugwash Salt Mine; served as supervisor for the Dept. of Highways for Cumberland County, and for the last several years he held the position as curator of the Wallace and Area Museum, which was not only his job, but his passion. He had also served as a Councilor for Cumberland County and was a member and clerk of session at St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church, Wallace. David dearly loved his family, his church and his community.
Besides his mother he is survived by a brother, Paul (Mary) Dewar, Wallace Bay and sister, Helen (Brian) Gordon, Pugwash; their children, Peter (Carrie), Paula (Douglas); Mary (Peter), Andrew (Lindsay) and all their families.
Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3, in Mundle’s Funeral Home, 204 Water St., Pugwash (902 243-2506). The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church, Wallace. Reception to follow at the Wallace and Area Museum.
