Stewart, Reta Alma – of Amherst passed away at age 83 on Sunday, February 7, 2016 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Maccan, NS, she was the eldest daughter of the late Harold and Freda (Hurley) Gould.
Mom had many roles in life but the most important one was her family. She was always willing to lend a helping hand whether it was her contribution to the Kidney Foundation, driving friends and family to appointments or supplying her wonderful baked goods to various functions.
Mom loved her job at Woolworths and was proud of her accomplishments there. She also kept busy doing puzzles, knitting, playing cards and going to bingo with family and friends.
Reta will be missed by her children, Leslie (Marilyn) of Hastings, DonnaRae MacKinnon (Buzzy) of Brookdale, Melanie Kaulbeck (Dennis) of Montague Gold Mines, Jane of Laconia, New Hampshire and Carla (David) of East Amherst. She is also survived by her 12 grandchildren Matthew, Lisa, Jon, Robyn, Miranda, Adam, Patrick, Angela, Sydney, MacKenzie, Leigh-Anne and Samantha, 9 great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers Howard, Murray (Hazel) and two sisters Rose Cosman (Dana), Vera McInnis (Carroll), sister-in-laws Marlene and Sandy and brother-in-law Orey Wilson.
She is predeceased by two sisters Hilda Wilson, Elsie Bourgeois and three brothers Robert Daniel, Vaughn “Sonny” and George and sister-in-law, Pat.
A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, February 11, 2016 from 1–3 pm at Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St. Amherst, 902-667-9906.
Interment will take place at a later date in Christ Church Cemetery.
