Vera "Jean" (Hughes) Sharpe - 74, of Avonport, passed away on Thursday, February 4, 2016 in Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville as a result of Alzheimers. Jean was born on July 8, 1941 in Avonport to the late Charles and Vera (Rose) Hughes. After her schooling, she attended Mack Business College, moved to Toronto and then worked as office manager for a clothing manufacturer and the Toronto Police Department. Upon Fred's retirement, they moved back to the Valley. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Fred; a sister, Mary Harvey; two brothers, Burton and Earl. She is survived by sons, Scott and Andrew (Michelle), Ontario; grandchildren, Brandi and Jesse; two sisters, Betty Joudrey, Gaspereau, and Katherine Hughes, North York, Ontario; two brothers, Bill, Gaspereau, and Wilfred, Avonport. Cremation has taken place. There was no visitation or funeral service. A private interment will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia.
