It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we, the family announce the peaceful passing of Evangeline Woodburn at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family at Harbourstone Enhanced care, Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2016.
Born in McKay’s Corner, Glace Bay, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Alice (Odo) Leblanc.
Mom took great pleasure in attending regular mass at both Holy Family and St. Anne’s Church.
Mom was deeply loved and will be forever missed by her son, John (Marguerite), Sydney; granddaughter, Irene (Robert)Lever; great-granddaughter, Louise Lever, New Victoria; step-grandsons, Robert MacDonald, Moncton, Ronnie (Patricia) MacDonald and Vincent MacDonald, Sydney; sisters, Josephine Leblanc, Halifax, Annie Ault, Edmonton; brothers, Edgar Leblanc, Halifax, Cecil (Nellie) Leblanc, Glace Bay and sister-in-law, Marie (Teasie) Le Blanc, Glace Bay.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Francis, daughter -in-law, Louise (Newman) Woodburn, sisters, Rita Marshall, Mabel Marshall, Jessie Marshall, Pauline Hanson, and Hattie Leblanc, brothers, Leonard, Melvin and John Joe Leblanc and her sister-in-law, Margaret (Lever) Leblanc.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation for Evangeline will be held on Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 from 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
A funeral mass of celebration will take place Saturday, Feb. 13 at 10 a.m. in St. Anne’s Church, Glace Bay. A reception will follow in the church foyer. Interment will take place at a later date.
Donations in Evangeline’s memory may be made to Holy Family Cemetery Fund or the Children’s Wish Foundation.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff at Harbourstone Enhanced care (Soldiers Cove) for all the attention and care they gave Evangeline over the years.
