It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend.
Donnie peacefully passed away surrounded by his loving family, Feb. 10, 2016, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Glace Bay, Aug. 20, 1968, he was the son of Donald Sr. and Romona (Aucoin) Budden.
While living in Glace Bay he was a member of Holy Cross Church.
Donnie had a great and very dry sense of humor; he was a very special person who was loved by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He enjoyed his time spent hunting, on his computer and shopping at Canadian Tire and Princess Auto; where he would always find a reason to purchase a new tool to add to his collection.
Donnie will be sadly missed by his loving wife Darlene (McLean) Budden, Donkin; parents Donald 'Ted' and Romona (Aucoin) Budden, Glace Bay; daughter Darlene P. (Michael), Glace Bay; son Shannon (Stephanie), Dominion; brother and best friend Mark (Nancy) Budden; sister Julianne (Roddie) MacNeil, both of Glace Bay; grandchildren James, Chandler, Joshua, Nickolas, Josh and Ryan; niece Brianna; nephews Jordan, Keegan, Bretton and Kenneth, who was also his godchild; mother-in-law Lolly Green, Reserve Mines; father-in-law Tommy (Linda) McLean, Dundee; brother-in-law Joe (Pattie) McLean, Loch Lomond. Donnie will also be missed by godchild Justin Jewer and numerous friends, especially Thane Jewer, Robbie MacKenzie, Jamie O., Dougie Wilson, Blaise Evely, Mickey and Diane MacGillivary, and his four footed feline companion 'Smokey'.
Donnie was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Joe and Dell Aucoin, Reserve Mines; paternal grandparents Gordon and Margie Budden, Glace Bay; aunt Geri Poth, Ottawa; cousin Michael Aucoin, Reserve Mines and brother-in-law Tommy McLean, Reserve Mines.
In honoring Donnie’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2016, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V. J. McGillvray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass, officiated by Fr. Daniel Boudreau will be celebrated 11 a.m.., Monday, Feb. 15, in St. Joseph’s Church, Reserve Mines. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery.
As an expression of sympathy for Donnie, in lieu of flowers memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Feral and Abandoned Cat Society of Cape Breton.
At this time we would like to give a sincere thank you, to the VON and the doctors and nurses of the ICU at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, for their love and compassion.
