Frances Gidney

GIDNEY, FRANCES MARGARET
Mrs. Frances Margaret Gidney passed away on February 15, 2016, at the Turnbull Nursing Home. She was born in Saint John on May 17th, 1919; the eldest daughter of the late John and Annie May (Chamberlain) Coyle.
Frances was a graduate of St. Vincent’s High School, and the Mount Carmel Academy. She was a former employee of T. McAvity & Sons, and T.S. Simms & Company until her retirement. Frances was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Frances will be sadly missed and is survived by her two daughters, Jacqueline Gidney of Saint John, and Bonnie Craft (David) of Martinon, and her son James “Jamie” Gidney of Saint John. She is also survived by four granddaughters; Wendy (Anthony) Hoban Edmonton, Tanya McCarthy (Danny) of Hampton, Vicki and Holly Noel, both of Saint John; grandsons Todd Craft of Ontario, and Korey Craft of Nova Scotia, daughter-in-law Sharon Cook, as well as several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Frances was predeceased by her son Terry Gidney, sister Mona Cook, brothers Bernard and John Coyle, grandson Terry Allan Noel, and nephews Walter (“Buster”) Coyle, and Peter Coyle.
The family will receive friends at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter’s Catholic Church on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will take place in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, where she will be laid to rest with her parents, and her nephew Buster Coyle.
In lieu of flowers, remembrances to the CNIB, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
