HAZELWOOD, MYRON KEITH LINTON
It is with great sadness that the family of Keith Hazelwood of Elmsville, NB announce his passing on Monday Feb. 15, 2016. With his “chosen daughter” Sue Parlee and Sarah Spence at his side, he waved goodbye to Sue as he peacefully took his last breath. Keith was born in South Devon, NB on March 12, 1939 as the only son of the late Myron Maxwell and Eva Adeline (Peacock) Hazelwood.
Keith was the last surviving member of his immediate family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters; Joan Marie (Clair) Parlee and Margaret Jean (Colby) Farnham.
Keith worked in Biomedical Engineering at the Saint John Regional Hospital moving to the Charlotte County Hospital until his retirement in 2001. In his earlier years Keith served with the Royal Canadian Air Force and then NORAD during the Cold War. Keith also earned his private pilot license. He was very passionate about nature and wildlife and the conservation of its beauty, living his retirement years on his very large woodlot.
Keith spent most of his final year living with his nephew Myles and Sue Parlee. He loved being called Grampie Keith by Nathan (Sa-Linh), Matthew (Jacquie), Jessica (Leith) Gibson, Aaron (Alyssa), Joshua (Sarah) and Caleb (Josh) and absolutely loved his FaceTime with some of his favorite little people Jovi, Addy, Dahni, Ethan and Leah and the many visits from Wren, Jacob, Chandler and William. He is also survived by nephews; Myron (Maria) Parlee, John (Crystal) Parlee, Jeff (Terri) Farnham, David Parlee, nieces; Wanda (Paul) Nelson and Jennifer (Daryl) Bird, along with great nephews; Andrew (Charissa) Parlee, Tim Nelson, Colby Farnham, great nieces; Sarah Parlee, Emily Nelson, Caitlin Parlee, Emma Parlee, Samantha Farnham and many cousins he loved dearly. He had a best friend and colleague Bert McDonald and loved his visits with Father Ken Weir.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Fundy Funeral Home 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). A memorial service will be held from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 19, 2016 at 10:00am, followed by a reception. Keith has requested a private family interment in the spring.
