Shirley Theodore Rushton 1935 - 2016
It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Shirley "Shirl" Theodore Rushton in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, surrounded by his loving wife and family.  
Shirl was the youngest son of the late Ivy and John Rushton.
Shirl enjoyed the outdoors and had a great passion for hunting and fishing until his failing health wouldn't permit this. Shirl's pleasant and congenial personality allowed him to have many long and lasting friendships from one coast to the other throughout his journey of life.
He will be sadly missed by his wife Anna Catherine (McPhee), daughters Heather (Tom) Wilkes, Lr. Sackville, NS, Marilee (Owen) Park, Brampton, ON, Leota Fisher, Prince George, BC sons Larry (Cindy) Rushton, Waasis, NB; Alfred (Lisa) Fisher, Amherst, NS, Daniel (Jodi) Fisher, Stellarton, NS; 17 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister Linda Rushton, Oxford, NS; special nephew Kenny Hachey, Ajax, ON; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by sister Helen Hachey-MacDonald; brothers Sherman and Donald (Sooner).
Cremation has taken place under the care and supervision of W. Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford, NS (902-447-2167) where his life will be celebrated at an Afternoon of Remembrance on Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 2 to 4 pm.
Those wishing to make a donation in Shirl's memory may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Aberdeen Palliative Care, the V.O.N, or the charity of your choice.
The family wishes to express a very special thank you to Dr's Farrell and Jazrawi and the many hospital and VON nurses who made the last leg of Shirl's life a much more comfortable one.
