WILSON, MILDRED
1914-2016
Mildred Wilson, 101, of Forest Dale Home and formerly of Turtle Creek where she resided with her daughter Ruth, passed away peacefully on February 17, 2016 at the nursing home. Mildred was born in Hopewell Hill on June 19th, 1914, the daughter of the late Ebon and Maude (Collins) Steeves.
During her lifetime she worked at Eatons in Saint John, NB making uniforms for the soldiers during WWII. Working as a seamstress fulfilled her passion of sewing, she made all her own clothes and also many of her children's clothes. While living in St. John she was also a member of the Orange Walk. In later years she would spend her time between the country life of New Brunswick and the bustling life of Ontario. While living in Ontario she cared for family members that needed her help and became a member of the Mississauga Gospel Temple. Family was her priority and she loved caring for them. In the early 70's she attended George Brown College in Ontario where she trained as a Senior Care Giver, while there she was given the nickname "Millie The Model", because she was a petite fashion icon of her time.|Gram had a strong faith in her Lord and prayed that others would follow Him as well. Your gentle smile and generous heart will live with us forever, we love you gram.
She will be deeply missed by her daughter, Ruth Weir (Jack) of Turtle Creek; son, Charles Wilson (Juanita) of Moncton: eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She also will be deeply missed by her granddaughter Heather, her husband Kevin and daughter Ashley, who helped Ruth care for gram with loving care during her illness. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Edward Wilson; daughter, Barbara Lund; grandson, Stanley Patriquin; brothers, Coleman Steeves and Harry Steeves; sisters, Vera Steeves and Leta MacDonald.
A special thank you to the staff of Forest Dale Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to gram during her stay with you and to Cindy Keays for her assistance in helping us to get gram placed, your help was very much appreciated.
She will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home. The service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Friday, February 19th, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Pastor Paul Steeves officiating. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB at a later date.
