DUNLOP, Barbara Ruth – was born on October 5, 1922 in Everett, Mass., the daughter of Capt. Fred Currier, of the Merchant Marine, and Hazel Potter, a nurse. Married first to pilot, David Bell who was killed at the beginning of the second World War, she volunteered for Womens’ War Work, part of Canadian Red Cross Services. Barbara later met and married John Dunlop, who was stationed in Yarmouth with the RAF. The couple moved to Dover, Mass., where they raised Carolyn and Susan. After John died in 1960, Barbara moved back to her parents’ home in Yarmouth. Barbara, like her mother Hazel, was a member of Zion Baptist Church. She was active in the Ladies Auxiliary of the Yarmouth Hospital and volunteered at the SPCA. Barbara died in Yarmouth Hospital on February 13. She is survived by her two daughters, Carolyn Swartz of Florida and Susan Krowinski of Massachusetts, and three grandchildren, Nicole, Laura and John. Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, February 25 at Yarmouth North Baptist Church, Elm St., Yarmouth, Rev. Shaun Kehoe officiating. Interment will take place in Yarmouth Mountain Cemetery at a later date. Barbara will be buried with her late husband John. Donations in memory of Barbara may be made to the Yarmouth VON, the Yarmouth SPCA or to the Yarmouth North Baptist Church.
