HUNTER, DEREK WAYNE
It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Derek Wayne Hunter which occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, February 21st, 2016. Born 1941, in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, he was the son of the late Robert and Bernice (Clark) Hunter.
Derek worked for The Armed Forces serving with the Military Police for 36 years. As a second career, he worked for the Corps of Commissionaires for 12 years before retiring in 2006. Derek enjoyed the outdoors and following the lives of his grandchildren near and far meant the world to him.
Derek is survived by his loving wife Juanita (Munn) of 52 years; son Wayne Hunter (Leanne) of Ottawa; daughters Wendy Wood (George) of Douglas Harbour, Sherry Reedy (Ron) of Kingston, ON; brother Bob Hunter (Mary) of Edmonton, AB; sister Donna Hunter of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; grandchildren Whitney, Jesse, Danielle, Brent, Jackson, Brayden, and Hunter; great-grandchildren Kaylee and Finley; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). As per Derek’s wishes there will be no visitation. A private service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saint John Regional Hospital Oncology Department, John Wood Foundation, Myeloma Canada, or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
