Margaret McLelland

Margaret (Peggy) Gladys McLelland
Aug 5, 1919 - Feb 18, 2016

It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Margaret (Peggy) McLelland on February 18, 2016 at Chez Nous Senior Citizens Home, Moose Jaw. Peggy, at the age of 96, was predeceased by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ken (2002). She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Sharleen (John) Langford and son Murray (Peggy deceased) McLelland. She was a cherished grandmother to Geoff Langford (Amber), Andrea Hanna, Bryan (Krista) McLelland, Carrie McLelland and great-grandmother to Danika, Jaelyse, Keara, Braylee, Kate, Addison, Ava, Ashlyn and Carson. She will be missed by her sister Audrey (David) Epp. She is predeceased by her great-grandson Daelund Hanna, great-granddaughter Mae McLelland, sisters Joyce (Norman) Fletcher, Shirley Mitchell, and brother-in-law Gord (Peggy) McLelland. Peggy was born in Moose Jaw, SK on August 5, 1919 to George and Annie Moore. She grew up attending Alexandra Public School and graduated from Central Collegiate. Over the years, she worked at Sobey's Ladies Wear, Bloss Jewellers and Prentice Jewellers, but with a natural flair for interior decorating and design, she found her niche working at Patterson's Paint and Floor Covering, eventually becoming known as "Peggy for Patterson’s", a popular feature on a local radio show. She was a proud member of the Girl Guides of Canada when she was young and became a leader and finally a commissioner, altogether giving over 50 years of service. She was an active and life-long member of St. Aidan Church (formerly St. John's), where she held many positions such as Sunday School teacher, Vestry member, Altar Guild member, and joyously singing in the choir for over 75 years. For many years, she and Ken enjoyed travelling to various destinations around the world. After Ken's passing in 2002, she maintained the family home on Clifton Ave. for several years, but when more help was required she moved to The Mulberry Estates in 2009. As her health continued to decline, a move to Chez Nous became necessary in 2014. The Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 29, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at St. Aidan Anglican Church, 124 1st. Ave. NE. Moose Jaw, with Reverend Dean Pinter officiating, followed by an interment at Sunset Cemetery where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Flowers are gratefully declined, however, memorial donations may be made in memory of Peggy to the St. Aidan Building Fund. A special thank-you is extended to the staff and management at Chez Nous for their excellent and compassionate care.

Arrangements are entrusted to Parkview Funeral Chapel.
