Robert “Bob” Murray Brown, age 84, of Windsor, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with his family by his side. Born on March 11, 1931, in Windsor, Hants County, Nova Scotia, he was the son of the late Allan and Mary (Swinamer) Brown. Bob worked in Halifax for a number of years installing high-rise billboards before he joined the Annapolis Valley Regional School Board, working as a janitor at the Windsor Elementary School until his retirement. He enjoyed his sports and spending time with family. Surviving are his children, Sharon White (Ken Sears); Gary (Linda) Brown; Robert “Bobby” (Heather) Brown; Debbie (Avery) Aker, all of Windsor; 11 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; companion, Christine Brown, Windsor; sister, Dorothy “Dot” Patton, Windsor; several nieces and nephews. Bob was predeceased by his wife, Muriel (2002); brothers, Earl and William “Bill” Brown; sisters, Jean Pemberton, Elsie Benedict and Ruth Boutilier. Visitation was 7-9 p.m. Friday, February 26, 2016, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Box 2218, Windsor, B0N 2T0. Funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, February 27, 2016, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. The Pastor Craig Faulkner officiated, followed by a reception in Lindsay’s Funeral Home. A private family interment was held in the Oakhill Cemetery, Ellershouse. Donations in Bob’s memory were requested to be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
