Duncan, Barrie Edward - 76, Truro, passed away Wednesday, February 24, 2016, in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, with his sons and his loved ones by his side. Born in Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mary (Armour) Duncan. Barrie owned a pop business where he delivered Sussex drinks to the Truro area. He later owned and operated a ladies boutique in Dartmouth. He also worked in many different sales positions. Later he was a Correctional Officer having worked for the Colchester Correctional Centre.
He is survived by sons, Jeff (Tanya), Truro; Greg (Valerie), Truro; grandson, Jason; granddaughter, Brittany; great-grandchildren, Dominic, Brendan, Payton, Keira, Mattea; sister, Sharon Johnson (Mel), Sydney; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where visitation will take place on Monday, Feb. 29th from 6-8 pm and where funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 1st at 2 pm. The Reverend Lori Ramsey will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Robie Street Cemetery, Truro. Donations in Barrie’s memory may be made to St. John’s Anglican Church, Truro or Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
