Richard Erle "Rick" Neil

Richard Erle “Rick” Neil – 60 of Hilden, passed away February 29, 2016 in Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro after a brief battle with cancer.
Born at home in East Noel, N.S., he was the son of the late Charlie and Helen (Zwicker) Neil.
Rick moved with his parents to Cape Breton at a young age and resided there for 12 years. He then made his home in Hilden, N.S. Rick was employed with Sobeys (TRA) for 28 years, retiring in May, 2015. He was also employed for many years with Kingston Aluminum, Truro. Rick was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan as well as a Nascar fan, especially Dale Earnhardt. A true family man, Rick enjoyed time spent with those whom he loved. He enjoyed playing cards and washer toss with family and friends. He was known for his true sense of humour and always brought a smile to everyone’s face. He enjoyed reading and took great pride in caring for his home, always keeping on top of the “to do” list.

He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Daphne (Tramble), Hilden; son and best friend, Chad, Hilden; brother, Keith (Gail), Valley; sister, Heather Watson (Phil), Truro; mother in law, Edie Breen, Truro; aunt, Mary Brown, Truro; nephews, Todd and Rick; niece, Kim.

Besides his parents, Rick was predeceased by his brother, Dale.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 4 from 6-8pm with Memorial Service on Saturday, March 5 at 1pm all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro. Rev. Ian Harrison, officiating with reception to follow in the funeral home. Spring Interment will take place in Hilden Cemetery, Hilden. Family flowers only. Donations in Rick’s memory may be made to the Colchester East Hants Hospice Society, VON or the Colchester East Hants Health Centre (Palliative Care Unit).
