Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility
formerly of Birchy Head, NL
It is with great sadness that the families of Mrs. Flora Caines nee Young announce her passing at the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility, in Corner Brook, NL, on Monday, February 29th, 2016, at the age of 89 years. Flora Caines was a Nanny and a mom to many. She was a quiet, understated woman with many talents. A baker, a quilt and dress maker and a cook whose most anxious moments came when trying to decide what to make for supper that night. Our Nanny and Mom was one of the best examples of a Christian-humble, non-judgmental, gracefully accepting, and kind to all. Her home was a wonderful place to be, whether it was in Bonne Bay where she and Leslie raised their children, or Deer Lake where they had to move in their later years together. In recent years dementia caused changes she and her family did not welcome, however the underlying kind hearted and gentle nature was always evident. Her family is thankful to all the kind caregivers at Corner Brook LTCC. Flora passed away as she lived her life-quietly and peacefully. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories her children John Caines, of Brampton, ON, Rhoda (Gerald) Andrews, of Corner Brook, NL, Sharon (Frank) Compton, of Deer Lake, NL, Colin (Joelene) Caines, Wanda (Ken) Lusk, and Dulcie Benoit all of Brampton, ON, her 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, her sisters Ada Wight, of Deer Lake, NL, Gladys Williams, of Brampton, ON and Ida (James) Burden, of Bonne Bay, son-in-law James Young and sister-in-law Ruby Goosney, NL, also leaving to mourn a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives, extended family and friends. Mother was predeceased by her husband Leslie Caines, her daughter Vivian Young, her grandchildren Vinton Compton, and Kyus Caines, and brother Richard Goosney. The family will be receiving family and friends from The Pentecostal Church in Birchy Head, NL, on Wednesday, March 2nd, 2016, from the hours of 2-4 and 6-8 pm, where also the funeral service will take place from on Thursday, March 3rd, 2016, at 2 pm, with Pastor Frampton officiating with the burial to follow at the church cemetery in Birchy Head, NL. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Pentecostal church in Birchy Head, and/or the Corner Brook Long Term Care Facility, in Corner Brook, NL.
