BIRD, WILLIAM "BILL" ALEXANDER
The passing of William “Bill” Alexander Bird husband of Alice (Edmondson) Bird occurred on Tuesday, March 1, 2016 at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital. Born on January 12, 1935 in Royal Road, NB, he was the son of the late Winslow and Edna (Coburn) Bird.
Bill retired as a co-founder at Central Auto Parts. He was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, four wheeling and spending time at his camp and woodlot in Stanley.
In addition to his wife, Bill is survived by his daughter, Joanne Chatham (Mark) of Dartmouth, NS; sons, Billy Bird (Heather) and Robert Bird (Karen) both of Birdton, NB; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; brothers, Dale Bird (Mary) and Donald Bird both of Burtts Corner, NB and Gordon Bird (Jan) of Prince Edward Island; several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Jean Slimming and brother, Willis Bird.
A Memorial Service will take place at York Funeral Home’s T. Gordon MacLeod Memorial Chapel on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 11am with Rev. Joanne Barr officiating. Honourary Pallbearers for the service will be Jack Collett, Wayne Kelly, Gerald Billings, Eric Brewer, Charles Gallagher, Robert Pickard and grandsons, Sandy Bird, Adam Bird, Kristopher Chatham, Michael Chatham, Robbie Bird and Tim O’Brien. There will be a reception to follow in the Fireside Room. Interment will take place in Pickard Merrithew Cemetery at a later date.
