Garnet “Eugene” Chase – 89, of North Alton, Kings County, passed away Tuesday, March 1, 2016. Born in Black Rock, Kings County, he was a son of the late Reginald and Minnie (Shaffer) Chase. He had been self-employed in the pulpwood, gravel, lumber and farming industries. He is survived by his wife, Georgie Adelaide “Addie” (Reid); six daughters, Jeannette (William Higgins), Alberta; Sally (Bernie) Wittenberg, Kentville; Jeannie (Eugene) Troper, Kentville; Judie Davies, Kentville; Ethel (Keith Penny), Berwick; Rose (David Barteaux), Wilmot; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by a sister, Bessie Creamer; five brothers, Harold, Harry, Lawrence, William and Willis. The family wishes to thank the Palliative Care Team and Continuing Care staff at Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Middleton, for their care and concern shown to Eugene. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday, March 6, 2016 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, Reverend Leon Langille officiating. Burial took place in the Elm Grove Cemetery, Steam Mill. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
