Stella Laberge, age 90 of Gull Lake, SK. passed away on Saturday February 27, 2016 at the Gull Lake Special Care Home. The Memorial Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday March 4, 2016 from St. Anne Roman Catholic Church with Father Prince Kurisinkal officiating. The organist was Clara Butler, the eulogist was Walter Laberge, the Readings were given by Mervin Holizki and Marilyn Girodat and the Prayer of the Faithful was given by Donna Holtby and honorary pallbearers were all those who knew Stella. The Interment Service will be held at a later date. Stella is survived by her children Walter Laberge, Kathleen (Ron) Warrington, Elizabeth Laberge, Rosalund Laberge, and Nelson (Avis) Laberge; brothers Jack (Alice) Dzus, Sylvester (Lois) Dzus; sister Cecilia (Jake) Jacobson; grandchildren Crystal (Chris) Sich, Jennifer (Ryan) Rau, great-grandson Reagan; Kevin (Whitney) Warrington, great-granddaughter Evey; grandchildren Sean and Erin Warrington; brother and sister-in-law Harvey and Alma Laberge; numerous nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents John and Mary Dzus; brothers Gene, Alexander and Morris Dzus; sister - Emelia Stonehouse and brother-in-law Marvin Stonehouse; husband Edward Laberge; mother-in-law Maria Laberge; brothers-in-law Albert and Roger Laberge; sister-in-law Delphine Sparks and brother-in-law Ernie Sparks. Stella (nee Dzus) was born on June 14, 1925 to John and Mary (Nee Fedorchuk) Dzus of Yorkton, SK. They moved to homestead in the Choiceland area in 1928. Her family at the time included three brothers Jack, Morris and Eugene. At Choiceland brothers-Sylvester and Alexander, and sisters-Emelia and Cecilia completed the family. Her early schooling was at Purity School which was close to the farm. Stella married Edward Laberge in 1946 in Forget, SK. Walter was born in Forget 1947 and in early 1949 and the family then moved to Gull Lake, Sk. where Edward was employed at the R.M. of Gull Lake No.139, where Kathleen, Elizabeth, Rosalund and Nelson completed the family. Stella was proud of her flowers in the garden and she made many quilts and afghans in her spare time. Edward left for the East Coast and passed away on August 20, 1988. Walter lived with Stella in Gull Lake. Kathleen married Ron Warrington from Saskatoon and they have three children Kevin, Sean, and Erin; Elizabeth lives and works in Toronto, ON: Rosalund lives in Regina, Sk. and is working for the Ministry of Finance; Nelson married Avis (Nee Vanstone) from Moose Jaw, Sk.; They live in Shaunavon, SK. and have two girls Crystal (Chris) Sich and Jennifer ( Ryan) Rau have a great grandson Reagan. Stella lived with Walter for many years in Gull Lake before moving to the Gull Lake Special Home in October, 2015. After her health failed she passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016.
