MENG, Harvey Eugene
July 14, 1923 – March 6, 2016

It is with sorrow that the family of Harvey Eugene Meng, formerly of Birch Hills, SK announce his passing on Sunday, March 6, 2016 at the age of 92 years at the Herb Bassett Nursing Home in Prince Albert, SK. Harvey was born in the Waitville District on July 14, 1923 to Clarence and Elsie Meng. As a young man, Harvey moved to Ontario where he met and married Marjorie (Vickers). While there, Harvey worked for Dutch Boy as a meat cutter for several years and in 1969 he moved the family back to Saskatchewan. Back home in Saskatchewan, Harvey had several jobs from caretaker to bus driver until his retirement as a mechanic in 1986 from Northland Trucks. After retirement, Harvey enjoyed market gardening with his wife, Marjorie, playing his fiddle and the company of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. It was the children who kept him young at heart. Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Marjorie; his sons, William (Sandra) Gallagher, Leslie Meng, Michael (Debbie) Meng, Ron (Alene) Schultz and Robert Meng; his daughters, Audrey Exton, Valerie (Ray) Baillie, Linda (Harry) Leray, Cathy (Joe) Rodwin, Norma Jean Meng and Judith (Jerald) Meng; his siblings, Bert (Elaine) Meng, Donald Meng and Darlene Byers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by both parents Clarence and Elsie Meng; mother and father-in-law, Arthur and Violet Vickers; brothers, Maurice, David and Art; sisters, Norma, Viola, Alice, Goldie, Lorraine and Lois (in infancy) and son-in-law Larry Leray. A Private Visitation for family and friends will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 – 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Interment to be held at a later date. The family wishes to express a special thank you to the staff at the Herb Bassett Nursing Home (Golden Hill) for their care of Harvey. In lieu of other tributes, memorial donations can be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.grays.ca.
